We asked front row faces this season for their book recommendations during New York Fashion Week.
Emma Roberts: “‘Bad Blood’, I’m reading right now. I’m so obsessed – I’m almost done already and started it only four days ago. I canceled plans, silenced everyone in the area because I have to finish this book.
Sadie sink: âI’m a little late, but I read ‘Bossypants’ by Tina Fey. It was so funny, I read it in probably two days.
Carine Roitfeld: “Usually I always go back to my classics – I like Russian literature like Dostoyevsky. But there is one. it’s special for me as a Frenchwoman, it’s Françoise Sagan. She is an icon of French culture and literature. She was so modern for her time, she’s a Parisian. And I don’t know why I waited until I was my age to discover his books, I discovered them late, but it was a great discovery. I bought them a lot because they are very small, so I took a couple of them to travel, and now I’m totally addicted to reading and bought them all.
KiKi Layne: “I’m not done, but I’m reading ‘Becoming,’ Michelle Obama’s book.”
Diane von Furstenberg: âI am currently reading a biography on Frederick Douglass. Very serious, but very interesting because I didn’t know anything about him. And no! The most interesting thing is that I started reading with audiobooks and Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” was the first one.
Dascha Polanco: âI am reading a spiritual book. I’m into a lot of spiritual things right now at this point in my life.
Julia Garner: âA self-help book: ‘You’re a badass.’ Honestly, if I’m going to read a book, I’m going to read a self-help book. And it’s good for psychology too, for my job.
Maggie Gyllenhaal: âI loved ‘Lincoln in the Bardo’ by George Saunders. Not his last book, but the one before. I was crying, standing, reading this in a crowded subway at rush hour, crying. I loved it.
