The 30 best book covers of 2016

We’ve ignored the cardinal rule of literature: don’t judge a book by its cover, to assemble this gallery of the best book covers* of 2016.

The simple reality is that a striking design can influence whether we’re going to choose a title or leave it untouched on a shelf. Talented designers create images that will grab our attention and communicate the content of a book.

With that in mind, we’ve selected 30 stunning covers that combine creativity and functionality with memorable designs. These are by no means the only outstanding covers released this year, but they are some of our favorites.

Enjoy browsing the gallery to see our picks, and check out last year’s collection for even brighter covers.

* We have also included some novel and short story covers.
