BENGALURU: The Bangalore Development Authority has canceled its previous tender notification issued for Dr K Shivaram Karanth Layout and will issue a new notification this week after a cost increase of more than Rs 800 crore, a senior official from the BDA.

The BDA had earlier issued a tender on March 21 for Rs 1,865.34 crore for the layout in nine separate contracts. The deadline was April 25 for offers that are now cancelled. A senior BDA official told TNIE, “The new Schedule of Rates (SR) issued by the Department of Public Works for 2022 for all construction projects has increased the standard rates to be paid for raw materials and labor. work.

As a result, the initial estimated cost of Rs 4,530 crore for Dr. Shivaram Karanth Layout has soared to Rs 5,337 crore. Therefore, we have decided to cancel the previous tender notice and call for a new one. »
The BDA sent the revised document with the increased project cost to the state government for its approval on April 16, the official said.

“We are waiting for the green light from the government. Our new tender document is almost ready and we will proceed with its publication after the publication of a government decree on the new tariffs,” he added.

The development aims to create 33,000 sites spread over 2,935 acres and 12 guntas in 17 villages located between Doddaballapur and Hessarghatta. It was originally proposed to be 3,546 acres, but the entire land is not available for layout.

Environmental authorization
The Karanth Layout project has received environmental clearance from the National Environmental Impact Assessment Authority. “We got clearance on April 8, a critical step to move the project forward,” the official said. Civic and amenity sites, sewage treatment plants and a crematorium will be part of the facilities for residents, he added.
